5 February is Time to Talk day, when people come together to talk around the country to talk openly about mental health. If you are affected by mental ill health, life can be challenging. Time to Talk day is a campaign run by our national mental health charities and is designed to encourage people to share their experiences and have open conversations about mental health. However, on this Time to Talk day, we wanted to highlight the importance of social care to people with a mental health condition, and to let you know a bit more about your rights.
There are 2 sessions to choose from and both will be online events.
The sessions are intended for individuals who draw on social care services, or who support a friend or family member who does. It is not suitable for professionals working in the sector.
There is no cost to join. Choose between a FREE ticket a £10 general admission ticket or choose to make a donation.

Every user who comes to AccessAva is on a journey, often a difficult one. Behind every piece of content on AccessAva is a real story. A family navigating an unfair charge, a person fighting for a wheelchair, or a carer trying to secure an assessment. Our development process begins with insights from these real-life experiences.
Social care is a complex area. There are many services and functions, laws and practices that affect the lives of people who draw on social care. We know, however, that people who draw on social care, their families, carers and supporters, often feel lost and unsure what their rights are or how to access them. They are looking for clear guidance about their specific problem which helps to move their issue forward. Our users want to create change for themselves, and we want to create content on AccessAva that will help them do this.
AccessAva is making legal info more accessible! We now create more content using Easy Read principles so that more people can understand their rights. It's developed by our in house team who have extensive experience developing communication resources for people with a learning disability or for others who find standard English challenging.
